The District 5 Parks Project will construct general park and rehabilitation improvements of park facilities within available funding. Parks may include: Collins Gardens Park, Kennedy Park, Clarissa Alderete Park, Escobar Park, and Frank Tejeda Park.

Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and City Council District 5 are excited to announce the start of construction on the improvements to the following three parks, Alderete, Escobar, and Tejeda Parks, made possible by the 2022-2027 Bond Program.
Project Timeline: Spring 2025 - Spring 2026 (For the 3 Parks mentioned)
The project at Alderete Park will include playground improvements with new safety surfacing, sidewalk and accessibility upgrades, drinking fountain upgrades, trail enhancements, additional seating and picnic tables, as well as planting and irrigation for approximately twenty-five (25) trees.
At Escobar Park the improvements will add a new lighted shade canopy for the existing handball courts and accessibility upgrades.
At Tejeda Park the project involves playground enhancements with new safety surfacing, sidewalk and accessibility upgrades, drinking fountain upgrades, trail enhancements, new picnic shade structures, as well as planting and irrigation for approximately twenty-five (25) trees.
Site Closures:
Will include temporary closures of the playground and trail areas at Alderete Park, the handball courts at Escobar Park, and the playground and trail areas at Tejeda Park for the duration of the work.
