Proposed FY24-25 Resource Management Plan (Budget)

City Council adopted the revised FY24-25 budget on May 14, 2024. The complete budget will be posted online by July 1. Thanks to everyone who provided input online and in person.

 

Residents are encouraged to learn about the FY24-25 Proposed Resource Management Plan (budget) and provide their comments and suggestions through Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Additionally, residents may attend in-person budget hearings to provide feedback.

City Council will hold a Reconcilation Workshop on May 7, 2024, and vote to adopt the Plan on May 14, 2024.

Many respondents expressed concerns about the allocation of funds, with several emphasizing the need for greater investment in essential services such as public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and education. There was frequent mention of dissatisfaction with perceived overspending on administrative costs and non-essential projects, with calls for more transparency and justification for budget decisions. Environmental sustainability and climate action were also recurring themes, with requests for increased funding for green initiatives and renewable energy [e.g.,.

Some respondents highlighted the importance of supporting vulnerable populations, including affordable housing and social services, and urged the city to prioritize these areas over new developments or beautification projects. Others raised concerns about tax increases and the overall tax burden on residents, suggesting the need for more efficient use of existing resources.

A few comments noted appreciation for opportunities to provide input and encouraged continued public engagement in the budgeting process. There were also suggestions for clearer communication about how budget decisions impact the community and requests for more detailed breakdowns of expenditures.
