Thousand Oaks Erosion Protection
Thousand Oaks Erosion Protection
Concrete riprap under Thousand Oaks bridge is in disrepair and breaking off exposing the bluff which has led to extreme erosion in this area. Storm water runoff from two culverts combine east of Thousand Oaks and are severely cutting away at the bluff as it outfalls downhill toward the parking lot. In December 2017, the approach was to reduce erosion impacts to the bluff by redirecting two thirds of runoff down the bluff west of Thousand Oaks via a concrete channel. The erosion potential at this section of the bluff is minimized due to the flow dropping vertically into an existing inundation area with a proposed concrete pad to prevent scouring at the bottom.
