Pinn Road Safety Improvements
Area residents, businesses, and motorists have expressed concerns about the Low Water Crossing (LWC) of mainstream Leon Creek at Pinn Rd and State Hwy 151. This crossing floods frequently under minor storm events making it dangerous for motorists and resulting in numerous Swift Water Rescues. The ultimate solution is a $15M Bond-Type project, that elevates the roadway as much as possible, resulting in passing the 1-year storm and reducing the frequency of roadway closures. Until the ultimate solution can be funded and constructed, the installation of Advanced Warning “Quiet Zone”-type warning devices are to be installed to prevent vehicle ad pedestrian crossing during a flood. Infrastructure may include arms, medians, flashing lights, flow detections and cameras.
