Thank you for your interest in this survey.  The survey closed for comments at 5 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2023. Survey results are available in the Documents section.   Although Electric Vehicles (EVs) have been available in the U.S. for more than a decade, over the course of 2022, the EV market experienced unprecedented growth. According to Automotive News, registrations for electric cars increased by 60% in the first quarter of 2022, despite the overall vehicle market being down 18%.  With the federal government offering tax credits to incentivize the conversion to electric-fueled cars, automakers have been hard-pressed to keep pace with demand. And, some areas with high EV adoption rates are also facing a public charging infrastructure beleaguered by insufficient stations according to an Aug. 2022 study by J.D. Power. As Virginia Beach looks forward and takes steps to prepare for the downstream effects of these transportation changes, the City wants to ensure that our community is prepared with the infrastructure necessary to support greater use of EVs. Please complete this brief, 5-minute survey to help us better understand how our residents and businesses currently operate their vehicles, knowledge of and interest in EVs, and preferences as to where charging stations might be installed in the future. At the end of the survey, we will also provide the opportunity to be included in future communications for City planning efforts as it relates to this issue. Pursuant to City Council's request for enhanced community engagement, residents have been provided mulitiple opportunities to review the proposed amendments to the City's noise ordinance and to provide their comments and recommended textual changes. Council members Moss and Tower, along with City staff, have reviewed the recommended changes and comments from residents submitted during the Second Round survey and have prepared a reconciled proposed amendment document. Attached below is a red-lined copy of the reconciled document as well as a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet addresses the recommended changes as well as specific concerns and/or questions. The designation of “policy decision” means that a decision on change/no change is a City Council determination. Please provide your comments on the updated proposed ordinance in the box below. The survey will remain open until midnight on Sunday, November 13, 2022.    Additionally, there will be two public listening sessions. City Attorney Mark Stiles will provide a presentation regarding the comments and requested changes received and there will be an opportunity for residents to provide their input to Council members Tower and Moss. Those meetings will take place: Wednesday, November 16, 2022 Princess Anne High School Auditorium 4400 Virginia Beach Blvd. First meeting:  3:30-5:00 pm Second Meeting:  6:30-8:00 pm   This item appeared on the City Council agenda for October 18 and was deferred to December 6, 2022.  It will appear on City Council’s agenda that day and you will have an additional opportunity to speak to the entire City Council prior to the vote on the item.    For reference, the current noise ordinance can be viewed here: ARTICLE II. - NOISE | Code of Ordinances | Virginia Beach, VA | Municode Library   To learn more about the noise ordinance history and view a video presentaion by the City Attorney, please visit www.VBgov.com/Noise.
